Brookhaven’s Front Yard Tree Program sells out

Forty trees to be planted in initial campaign

Brookhaven, GA, Nov. 12, 2019 – Brookhaven’s Front Yard Tree Program was so popular that registration was closed after only 14 days. 

“It was our first year, so we started with a 40-tree partnership with Trees Atlanta and thought we could grow from there.  Given the demand this year, we’ll have to increase our capacity next year,” said Parks and Recreation Director Brian Borden.

Brookhaven invites stakeholders to take the Arts and Culture Planning Survey

Brookhaven, GA, Oct. 30, 2019 – The City of Brookhaven and the Brookhaven Arts Advisory Committee have launched a seven-month planning effort to look at the current arts and cultural offerings, place Brookhaven with the regional arts and cultural context, and examine best practices to form strategic recommendations. The resulting Arts and Culture Master Plan is expected to be delivered to Council by mid-year 2020.

Brookhaven and Atlanta Hawks unveil new basketball courts at Lynwood Park

Brookhaven, GA, Sept. 27, 2019 – In a festive celebration featuring coaches and players, the Atlanta Hawks and Brookhaven City Council unveiled new site improvements to existing basketball courts and renovation of the community room at Lynwood Park.

The Brookhaven City Council approved the improvements to Lynwood Park in a special partnership with the Atlanta Hawks Foundation, Inc. and State Farm at its July 23 regular business meeting.

Intersections closed due to track fires

Public asked to avoid the area

Brookhaven, GA, Sept. 19, 2019 – Brookhaven Police are monitoring activities and providing support for DeKalb County Fire and Rescue and Norfolk Southern crews addressing a series of fires on the freight tracks that run through Brookhaven.

Due to heavy smoke and public safety activities in these areas, some intersections along the tracks have been closed.  The public is requested to avoid areas along the Norfolk Southern freight tracks if possible.
