Brookhaven, GA, May 10, 2019 – Last week, Brookhaven Mayor John Ernst joined local government leaders from across the country at a flood-prepared communities initiative meeting in Washington, DC, hosted by the Pew Charitable Trust. Mayor Ernst and others shared best practices and local knowledge to advance meaningful reforms to our nation’s flood policies.

Brookhaven, GA, May 7, 2019 – During the week of April 29-May 5, Brookhaven Police responded to 2,016 calls which included 142 incident reports, 92 citations, and 26 arrests.  This is a sampling of some of those calls:

Cool off throughout the summer at one of Brookhaven’s city pools, opening on May 25

Beginning Aug. 5 through Sept. 2, city pools will be open weekends only. Below are the hours for the remainder of summer. 

Saturdays: 10 a.m. - 8 p.m.
Sundays: 1-6 p.m.
Labor Day: 12-6 p.m.

Brookhaven, GA, April 29, 2019 – The long-awaited expanded parking lot at Murphey Candler Park is now open for business.

The project was delayed by unusually wet weather in winter and spring as well as coordination with the football leagues last fall.

“We appreciate everyone’s patience and cooperation through our growing pains,” said City Manager Christian Sigman.  

The $400,000 improvements increase the parking at Murphey Candler to more than 100 spaces and improves drainage in the area. 

Brookhaven, GA, April 25, 2019 – At its April 23, meeting, the Brookhaven City Council made changes to its zoning ordinance to allow all homeowners to engage in short term rentals under certain conditions.

In November 2018, Brookhaven adopted a complete zoning code rewrite which included regulations that only allowed short-term rentals in areas currently zoned for a multi-family use with a Special Land Use Permit (SLUP).

Accommodates special needs youngsters

Brookhaven, GA, April 17, 2019 – All of the elements of a regular Easter Egg Hunt were there…Peter Rabbit posing for photos, plastic eggs filled with prizes, joy on youngsters’ faces.

Missing were hordes of children competing for the bounty. And, in this instance, that was a good thing.

The City of Brookhaven has unveiled a new logo for the Peachtree Creek Greenway, which celebrated its grand opening in December.

Music, arts and crafts, antique cars take the spotlight

Brookhaven, GA, April 1, 2019 – From live music concerts to classic cars, thousands of visitors flooded into Blackburn Park, 3493 Ashford Dunwoody Road, this weekend to enjoy the fifth annual Brookhaven Cherry Blossom Festival. Even a dip in the temperatures on Sunday failed to put a damper on the fun at what City officials are calling the largest crowd ever at the annual event.
