Community Development

The Brookhaven Community Development Department performs five essential services for the City: planning and zoning; building inspections; land development; code enforcement; and fire marshal. The Planning Commission and the Board of Appeals operate under the purview of and with staff support from the department.

Primary functions related to land use petition analysis, code enforcement, development permit processing/review, and building/life safety inspections of residential and commercial structures are administered by the department.

For after-hours emergencies relating to building code violations, erosion control failure and unlawful discharge into streams, contact 404-637-0555.

If you have a complaint related to a noise violation, impassible streets due to construction activity, or grading/construction occurring during unauthorized hours (Before 7 a.m. or after 7 p.m. Monday through Friday; before 8 a.m. or after 5 p.m. on Saturdays; or all day Sunday) contact the Brookhaven Police Department (Public Service Representative) at 404-637-0600.
