Big changes are coming soon to the roundabout intersection at Windsor Parkway and Osborne Road.

The City of Brookhaven’s Arts and Culture Commission announces that the installation of art crosswalks at the newly constructed roundabout will take place Saturday and Sunday, August 12-13. During this time, there will be detours around the intersection.

The intersection is located at the entrance to the Historic Lynwood Park neighborhood which was recognized for its significance by the Brookhaven City Council in 2020. In 2021, the City of Brookhaven replaced the four-way stop signs at the Windsor-Osborne intersection with a single-lane roundabout. In addition to the historic recognition and new roundabout, the Windsor-Osborne Special Area Plan has been adopted by the City Council to focus on this main intersection of the Lynwood Park character area. The special area plan also provided arts and placemaking recommendations for the intersection, including art crosswalks. After an extensive evaluation by the Arts and Culture Commission and presentations in public meetings, the City Council approved this art crosswalk pilot program as the first step towards infusing art, culture, and creativity in transportation projects.

The total cost of the project is $85,905, with 25 percent funded from the Arts and Culture Commission budget and 75 percent from the Historic Lynwood project budget.  The project is part of the Arts & Culture Master Plan adopted by the City Council and has been implemented pursuant to the Arts & Culture Commission process and City’s Purchasing Policy.
