City Council wrap up from the Sept. 24 meeting

Brookhaven, GA, Sept. 24, 2019 – The Brookhaven City Council acted on several items in its Sept. 24 work session and regular business meeting at Brookhaven City Hall:

  • A rezoning request and special land use permit for several parcels on Executive Park East, Executive Park West, Executive Park South, Executive Park Drive, Hawks Lane and Sheridan Road to allow for an increase in maximum height was deferred and remanded back to the Planning Commission.
  • The Council held a public hearing and subsequently deferred a rezoning request from RS-75 to RS-60 to allow a two-lot subdivision at 1515 Grant Drive. 
  • The Council held a public hearing and subsequently approved a rezoning request from RS-75 to RS-50 to allow the combination of two non-conforming lots at 3095 and 3099 Fala Place. 
  • The Council unanimously approved the ratification of an agreement with Waterworks Aqua Design, LLC for the construction of the Briarwood Park Pool Project in an amount not to exceed $3,531,052.
  • The Council unanimously certified the Georgia Department of Transportation 2-19 Title VI Agreement.
     
  • The Council unanimously approved an intergovernmental agreement with the Brookhaven Convention and Visitors Bureau to provide brand development services with the City.
  • The Council unanimously approved an ordinance waiving 50 percent of permit fees for special events for non-profits.
  • The Council unanimously approved the 5-year update to the Comprehensive Plan 2034.
  • The Council unanimously authorized Ann Marie Quill to serve as Deputy Clerk in the absence of the Clerk and/or Deputy Clerk.
  • The Council unanimously authorized the City Attorney to acquire real estate at 1599 Briarwood Road for road improvements.
  • The Council unanimously approved a resolution establishing an annexation policy to finance infrastructure deficiencies and improvements in areas seeking to be annexed into the City of Brookhaven.
