City Council wrap up: Highlights from the September 10 meeting

Brookhaven, GA, Sept. 10, 2019 – The Brookhaven City Council acted on several items in its Sept. 10 work session and regular business meeting at Brookhaven City HallThe Council issued proclamations in recognition of Constitution Week and Childhood Cancer Awareness month.

  • The Council unanimously approved the unification of several AXON contracts into a single annual maintenance contract in the amount of $254,939 for body cameras and taser equipment and maintenance within the Police Department.
  • The Council unanimously approved to surplus several antiquated vehicles in a public auction via GovDeals.com.
  • The Council unanimously approved a change order to Lewallen Construction in the amount of $56,152 for Peachtree Creek Greenway (PCG) Phase I Construction Services related to the trailhead access at the North / West Druid Hills Road intersection.
     
  • The Council received a 2020 budget schedule update from the City Manager.  The budget will be presented to Mayor and Council at the October 22, and public hearings will be held at the Nov. 12 and 26 at 7 p.m., before consideration of adoption.
  • The Council unanimously approved to amend the Capital Improvement Programs (CIP) Fund for to advance $100,000 for the Montgomery Elementary Traffic Signal Project and reallocating $100,000 for the Ashford Dunwoody Peachtree Road intersection for one year.
  • The Council unanimously approved to amend the Capital Improvement Programs (CIP) Fund, approving of transfers of remaining project balance appropriations to the original fund and a new public works project.  With the surplus funds from public works projects, the 10’ path project from Briarwood to Buford Highway can begin.
  • The Council unanimously approved a resolution of the Brookhaven City Council to affirm and amend the Briarwood Park Pool Master Plan.
  • The Council unanimously approved an agreement with Waterworks Aqua Design, LLC for the construction of the Briarwood Park Pool Project in an amount not to exceed $3,531,052.
  • The Council unanimously approved a contract to GreenbergFarrow for the development of construction and permitting document, and to provide bidding services for the completion of the Murphey Candler Park II Multi-Use Trailway in the amount of $88,575.
