FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Brookhaven, GA, Dec. 8, 2020 – Following public input meetings in September and October, a draft planning document for the Gateway South area is now ready for review.

Earlier this year, the Brookhaven Community Development Department kicked off a visioning process for areas south of Interstate 85. This initiative will serve as an update to the City’s Comprehensive Plan that will guide the future of LaVista Park, surrounding residential areas, and the growing medical activity center.

“We have listened closely to the community input we have received along the way and have worked hard to incorporate areas of consensus in the draft character area document,” said Patrice Ruffin, Brookhaven Community Development Director.

Document finalization is anticipated in early 2021 following the January public hearing process (details below). The targeted outcome of the planning effort is for City Council to consider adopting the Gateway South Character Area document as an amendment to the City's Comprehensive Plan.

  • Jan. 6 (7 p.m.) – Planning Commission Regular Meeting
  • Jan. 26 (7 p.m.) – City Council Regular Meeting
