Critical intersection improvements on W. Nancy Creek completed

Brookhaven, GA, Aug. 20, 2019 – The commute for motorists on W. Nancy Creek at Ashford Dunwoody Road has improved somewhat.  The City of Brookhaven has completed a critical intersection improvement that was originally specified in the Ashford Dunwoody Corridor Study, adopted in April 2017.

“This project helps keep traffic moving in the busy mornings and afternoons,” said Councilmember Linley Jones.  “This is another step in our continuing commitment to improve the quality of life for our residents and visitors to our City.”

The intersection improvements include left turn lanes in both directions on W. Nancy Creek, upgraded traffic signals with left turn arrows in every direction of traffic, sidewalks and multi-use paths.  Funding for the project was approved by the Brookhaven City Council in Sept. 2018.  The contract was awarded to CMEC, LLC following a competitive bid process.  The $250,000 cost was allocated from SPLOST proceeds, approved by voters in November 2017.

“All of the improvements in this area are the direct result of the extensive public process leading up to the Ashford Dunwoody Corridor Study,” said Mayor John Ernst.  “Residents told us what they wanted, we got the job done, and now we’ll move on to the next project.”

Since the adoption of the Ashford Dunwoody Corridor Study, Brookhaven has been aggressively implementing the recommendations.  Seven of the 10 short term projects have been completed.
