Millage Rate and Tax Digest 2024
In November 2023, the Brookhaven City Council adopted a balanced 2024 budget totaling $74.3 million in direct expenditures, defined as the total of all 16 funds minus interfund transfers. The general fund budget, which funds the day-to-day operations of the City of Brookhaven, totals $35.4 million, and represents a decrease of $10.2 million (22.5 percent) from the 2023 General Fund budget as revised. The millage rate in 2024 is 2.74 mills, the same rate which has been in effect since 2015.
Due to the revaluation of real property tax assessments, the proposed 2.74 millage rate results in an increase in property tax by 0.073 mills over the Rollback Millage rate. Without this tentative tax increase, the millage rate will be no more than 2.667 mills.
All concerned citizens are invited to the public hearings on the millage rate at City Hall located at 4362 Peachtree Road in Brookhaven. The first public hearing will be held on June 13, 2024, and twice on June 26, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m.
