Phase II

Peachtree Creek Greenway_Brookhave, GA Phase II

Atlanta City line to North Druid Hills Rd.

Just two years after the City Council adopted the community planning documents for the Peachtree Creek Greenway, the Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC) placed Phase II of the Peachtree Creek Greenway (Atlanta City line to North Druid Hills Rd) into the Transportation Improvement Plan, and the project has been awarded $2.7 million in federal transportation funds.  Phase II has also been designated by the ARC to be a confluence of regional significance due to its critical link to the Atlanta Beltline, Path 400 and the Southfork Conservancy system, connecting those trails to the greater DeKalb system. Brookhaven's western end of the Peachtree Creek Greenway will ensure that the entire DeKalb trail system, including an additional 9 miles of the Peachtree Creek traveling northeast of Brookhaven, will connect and serve our region with a safe pedestrian and biking transportation choice to work, home, shopping, recreation and transit.

Under the direction of the Brookhaven Public Works Department, Planning and Engineering for Phase II began in 2019, and in 2021 the Georgia Department of Transportation approved the concept plan and preliminary alignment.  All environmental permitting and National Environmental Protection Act (NEPA) filings will be completed in 2023 while land acquisition and construction will take place through 2023 and 2024.  Construction is scheduled for 2025.
