The mission of the Brookhaven Police Department is to enhance the quality of life for those within our community by providing professional, high quality, and effective police services in partnership with the community.

The City of Brookhaven was incorporated in December 2012, and the Brookhaven Police Department began providing services on July 31, 2013.  BPD is tasked with serving and protecting the city of more than 56,000 residents across 13 square miles.  BPD is especially proud to provide this service in partnership with our community by collaborating with residents, businesses, community organizations, schools, and other stakeholders to maintain safety and order in the city. We believe that every member of the Brookhaven Police Department is responsible for building and maintaining trust and cooperation between the department and the community.  BPD is committed to enforcing the law in a fair and impartial manner, recognizing both the statutory and judicial limitations of police authority and the constitutional rights of all persons.

The Department is comprised of the Uniform Patrol Division, which answers calls for service and provides proactive patrols; the Criminal Investigations Division which investigates crimes and manages internal affairs; and the Support Services Division, which includes the Community Policing, Traffic Safety, Training, and Professional Standards units.
