Household Hazardous Waste Drive

The cities of Brookhaven and Chamblee join forces to host a Household Hazardous Waste event

Brookhaven, GA, May 31, 2022 The City of Brookhaven, in partnership with the City of Chamblee and LiveThrive, will host a household hazardous materials recycling event at the Plaza Fiesta parking lot, 4166 Buford Hwy, on June 11 from 9am-1pm.

The Household Hazardous Waste Drive is an appointment-only event and registration is only open to Brookhaven and Chamblee residents in the 30319, 30326, 30329, 30340, 30341, and 30345 zip codes.

The following materials will be accepted at the event:

  • Electronics–no large appliances or rear projection tv
  • Paint
  • Chemicals/Pesticides
  • Styrofoam
  • Plastic Film (must be clean and dry)
  • Textiles/Clothing (useable and unusable accepted)

A total of 81,088 pounds of hazardous waste was diverted from the water system and landfill at last year’s recycling event held by Brookhaven and Chamblee.

Live Thrive is an Atlanta-based nonprofit organization working since 2010 to create a community that cares about a healthy and sustainable environment.  Brookhaven partnered with LiveThrive as part of its Sustainable Brookhaven initiative, which is a way of governing and managing in pursuit of lasting economic, social, and environmental development that seeks to avoid and prevent the depletion or permanent damage of Brookhaven’s resources, which include the environment, built infrastructure, and civic capital that is the DNA of the City.
