Brookhaven Police Department announces Fall 2018 Citizen’s Police Academy

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Brookhaven, GA, Aug. 31, 2018 – Applications are now open for the Fall 2018 edition of the Brookhaven Citizen’s Police Academy. Free of charge, the class is open to adults age 21 and older and runs on Tuesday nights for 10 weeks, Sept. 18-Nov. 20.

“This is a great opportunity to not only enhance the relationship between our Police Department and the citizens of Brookhaven, but also to give residents insight into how a police department operates,” Chief of Police Gary Yandura said.

The Citizen’s Police Academy is designed to give residents an overview of how the Police Department works. It will provide insights into the basics of police work and the logistics of the Police Department, as well as crime prevention programs.

The class will meet on Tuesday nights from 7 to 9:30, and the first meeting will be held at the Brookhaven Police Department, 2665 Buford Highway. Anyone who lives or works in Brookhaven is invited to attend. A criminal background check is required, and the Police Department reserves the right to deny enrollment to anyone with a criminal history.

Any questions about the program or requirements should be directed to Officer Carlos Nino at Carlos.Nino@BrookhavenGA.gov.
