New Briarwood Park treehouse takes playtime to a new level

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Brookhaven, GA, July 25, 2019 - Brookhaven is continually striving to raise the bar when it comes to innovation, intelligent solutions to problems and just all-around fun for its residents. All three aspects have been achieved in the recent installation of a state-of-the-art piece of playground equipment that literally adds a new dimension to fitness and exercise.

The latest addition to Brookhaven’s park system is located at Briarwood Park, 2235 Briarwood Way, NE. Dubbed “The Treehouse,” a creative take on a childhood favorite, the adventurous piece consists of three elevated treehouses in a triangular formation that interconnect with rope ladders. It was designed to combine physical activity with teaching youngsters how to transform ideas into fun solutions.

“When developing the master plan for the park, neighbors wanted something different, trying to get away from the normal everyday playground and treehouse concept … something new that would engage the children and hold their attention,” noted Brian Borden, Brookhaven Director of Parks and Recreation. “I believe we have achieved that goal. This is a ‘first’ in the Brookhaven park system and could well serve as a prototype for future playground improvements in other city parks.”

Coordinated by GreenbergFarrow, an Atlanta-based architecture, engineering and planning firm, the custom-designed tree houses were created by KOMPAN, the world’s leading manufacturer of playground equipment. Every year, 150 million people worldwide play or exercise on KOMPAN products in countries ranging from Australia to England, Denmark, France and South America.

“In our park planning, we try to look for ways to shape happier and healthier communities by offering excellent play, sports and fitness solutions for people of all ages and abilities,” added Borden. “Through play and exercise, those who enjoy our parks have fun, learn and develop as individuals and as groups of people. We believe this is the very cornerstone of a happier and healthier community.”
