Two ways to cast your early ballot in the Jan. 5 election

The eyes of the nation are on Georgia as voters determine who will hold the two important Senate seats on the special run-off election ballot. The election date is slated for Jan. 5, 2021. Information on where, how and when to vote can get confusing, so here is a guide to make it a bit easier:

Early voting if you prefer to cast your vote before the Jan. 5 election, the closest site for Brookhaven residents is at Core4 Atlanta, 2050 Will Ross Court in Chamblee. Early voting hours from now until the Dec. 31 deadline are Mon.-Fri.,12/14-12/31 from 7 a.m.- 7 p.m., Sat.12/19 from 9 a.m.- 6 p.m., Sundays 12/20 and 12/27 from 12 p.m.- 6 p.m., Christmas Eve 7 a.m.- 3 p.m., and New Year’s Eve from 7 a.m.- 5 p.m.

Please note: DeKalb Voter Registration and Election (VRE) officials strongly encourages social distancing and urges voters to wear a mask for their safety and the safety of VRE staff.

Absentee Ballots and Drop BoxesVoters who have not returned their absentee ballot at least 10 days before Jan. 5 are encouraged to take advantage of drop box locations located across the county or to instead vote in-person.

Brookhaven residents may deposit their absentee ballots at the drop box located in the back parking lot entrance to Brookhaven City Hall, 4362 Peachtree Road. All ballots must be placed into the box no later than 7 p.m. on Jan 5. All drop boxes are under 24-hour surveillance and are securely collected at least once a day by DeKalb County election officials, as required by law.

Absentee ballots cannot be dropped off at any of the advance voting locations found here: https://www.brookhavenga.gov/sites/default/files/fileattachments/communi.... They must be dropped off at a drop box or mailed in (and postmarked) by 7 p.m. on Tues., Jan. 5, 2021.
