Susan Hiott named Clerk of the Year at Georgia Municipal Association annual meeting

Susan Hiott

Brookhaven, GA, Aug. 12, 2021 – At its annual meeting in Savannah, the Georgia Municipal Association (GMA) announced that the Georgia Municipal Clerks Association (GMCA) awarded the 2021 Clerk of the Year designation to Brookhaven’s Susan Hiott.

“We already knew that Susan Hiott was the best in the business, and now the rest of Georgia knows it too,” said Mayor John Ernst.

Hiott’s numerous achievements were factored into GMCA’s decision.  Hiott was the first Clerk in Georgia to receive Master Municipal Clerk certification from the International Institute of Municipal Clerks in 2008, holds a master’s in business administration, and earned certification of GMA Municipal Revenue Certificate. She was the President of the Georgia Municipal Clerk Association in 2010.

Formerly, Hiott was the first Clerk for the City of Roswell and is the first employee and City Clerk for the City of Brookhaven, beginning in 2013.

“From day one of Cityhood, Susan Hiott has set the standard for leadership, customer service and quality of work.  We are elated that GMA has recognized her achievements, as Susan has earned this distinction,” said Ernst.
