Federal alcohol lawsuit dismissed

Judgment preserves existing ordinances

Brookhaven, GA, March 21, 2019 --- Today, a federal judge dismissed the lawsuit against Brookhaven over its alcohol ordinance, ending a dispute without any finding that the City’s ordinances are unlawful or discriminatory.

“This is a win for the residents of Brookhaven,” said City Attorney Chris Balch.  “Our current ordinance remains intact and in force, enhancing safety in the area and preserving the quality of life for those who live here.”

“With this issue now behind us, we can remain focused on compliance with our ordinances concerning days and hours of operations and excise tax collections,” said City Manager Christian Sigman.
