Statement regarding bond validation petition

The City of Brookhaven Development Authority has asked the DeKalb District Attorney to dismiss the bond validation petition pending in DeKalb Superior Court after learning that the project on Dresden Drive is no longer viable for the developer at this time. The City of Brookhaven and the Development Authority are disappointed about the loss of a quality redevelopment that augments and completes the Dresden corridor. The future revenues from this project would have positively benefited the City, County, and School Board, while enhancing the corridor’s walkability, connection to transit at the Brookhaven-Oglethorpe MARTA station, and ultimately the City Centre Masterplan area. Moving forward, we are looking forward to working with J.R. Connolly and other members in the development community to explore highest and best use smart growth opportunities throughout Brookhaven.
