Brookhaven, GA, July 8, 2021 – Congresswoman Lucy McBath toured the Peachtree Creek Greenway with representatives from the City of Brookhaven, DeKalb County, City of Chamblee, City of Doraville and the Salvation Army.

The outdoor walk afforded Representative McBath the opportunity to see and experience this first mile of the multi-use trail and linear park built in Brookhaven and to learn more about ongoing work to bring the Greenway into Chamblee, Doraville, and Dekalb County. The meeting was facilitated and hosted by board members of Peachtree Creek Greenway, Inc., the advocacy group working toward the fulfillment of the full 12.3 mile stretch of the Greenway, which will ultimately connect DeKalb County to the Atlanta Beltline and regional trail network.

McBath’s visit follows a PCG tour with Congresswoman Nikema Williams in April. The Greenway spans both House Districts connecting neighborhoods, impacting long-neglected connectivity, and promoting access to green space from Atlanta, through Brookhaven, Chamblee, Doraville and unincorporated DeKalb County. Both Representatives championed the project through “Member Designated Project” funding in the INVEST in American Act, passed by the House just before the July 4 recess. The bill remains subject to Senate approval and Executive action.

The Peachtree Creek Greenway, Inc., a 501(c)3, advocates for the greenway and recognizes that paved trails serve all residents, those with limited mobility and many people who are part of underserved populations.  The vision of the Peachtree Creek Greenway, once completed, will connect communities, encourage economic opportunity, improve livability and provide an alternative transportation solution in this region of Georgia.
