Mayor John Ernst and two council members take oath of office

Judges also sworn in, key appointments adopted

The mayor, two council members and two judges took their oaths of office today at a special ceremony at Brookhaven City Hall. State Court Judge Mike Jacobs administered the oaths of office. Mayor John Ernst was sworn into his second term as was District 1 Council Member Linley Jones. Taking the oath for her first term was Madeleine Simmons, who replaces former Council Member Bates Mattison in District 3.

The first action item of the new City Council was the approval of several key appointments and administrative positions.  These include District 4 Council Member Joe Gebbia for a second year as Mayor Pro Tempore, Christian Sigman as City Manager, Chris Balch as City Attorney, Susan Hiott as City Clerk, Jonathan Granade and Laura Stevenson as judges for Brookhaven Municipal Court, William J. Mulcahy, CPA, CIA as Internal Auditor, William Linkous as Alcohol Code Hearing Officer; Pete Stobie to the Audit Advisory Committee, the reappointment of Mike Harreld and Susan Nichols to the Audit Advisory Committee; and the reappointment of members to the Park Bond Oversight Committee.

Council chambers were filled with officials, residents and staff to witness the ceremony. Afterwards, Mayor Ernst reflected on the City’s successes over the past four years and noted that many great things are scheduled for completion during the next four years.
