City Council wrap-up for the Sept. 28 virtual meeting

Brookhaven, GA, Sept. 28, 2021 – The Brookhaven City Council acted on several items in its Sept. 28 business meeting, held via video conference, with public input offered through email and by online comments on Zoom.  The action items are as follows:

  • The Mayor and Council unanimously approved a consent agenda which included:
    • The minutes of the Sept. 14 virtual Work Session and Regular Meeting.
    • A resolution for the renewal of employee health benefits through CIGNA.
  • The Council unanimously approved a resolution recognizing Georgia Cities Week October 3-9, 2021 and encouraging all residents to support the celebration and corresponding activities.
  • The Council unanimously approved an ordinance extending the Declaration of a State of Emergency arising because of COVID-19; taking immediate emergency measures; establishing an effective date through October 31, 2021 and for other purposes.
     
  • The Council unanimously approved an ordinance to amend the General Fund Budget to Appropriate $100,000 to the Marquee Events Division of the Parks Department for the 2022 Cherry Blossom Festival.
  • The Council unanimously approved its first Employee Compensation Plan.  Under this plan, the housing allowance for Brookhaven police officers who reside within the City of Brookhaven was increased to $800 per month.  The previous allowance was $600 per month.
