City Council wrap-up for the Sept. 14 virtual meeting

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Brookhaven, GA, Sept. 14, 2021 – The Brookhaven City Council acted on several items in its Sept. 14 business meeting, held via video conference, with public input offered through email and by online comments on Zoom.  The action items are as follows:

  • The Mayor and Council unanimously renamed and dedicated the Remington Road Green Space in honor of longtime Brookhaven resident and community leader Tom Reilly.
  • The Mayor and Council unanimously approved a consent agenda which included:
    • The minutes of the Aug. 24 virtual Work Session and Regular Meeting.
    • Application to the FY 2021 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance (JAG) Program. 
    • Acceptance of American Automobile Association Funding.
    • Acceptance of HUD Agreement for 2021-25 CDBG Program Funds.
    • Acceptance of Criminal Justice Coordinating Council Training Funds.
       
  • The Mayor and Council announced the FY 2022 Budget hearings and dates.
     
  • The Council unanimously approved an ordinance to amend the 2021 Capital Improvement Programs Fund and Stormwater Fund budgets, recognizing the closing of Capital Improvement Program Fund and Stormwater Fund Projects and approving the transfer of residual appropriations to the original funding source.
     
  • The Council unanimously approved an ordinance to amend the 2021 Grant Fund Budget, increasing Grant Revenue in the amount of $2,500 for the funding of community focused programs and accepting the terms of the American Automobile Association/Time Community Grant; and in the amount of $19,100 for law enforcement training and accepting the terms of Criminal Justine Coordinating Council (CJCC).
     
  • The Council unanimously approved an ordinance to amend FY 2021 Grant Fund Budget to increase Federal Grant Revenue in the amount of $366,557 for the funding of the 2021-2025 Brookhaven Community Development Block Grant Program (CDBG) and accepting the terms of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development for the awarding of the funds.
