City Council wrap-up for the Oct. 26 virtual meeting

Brookhaven, GA, Oct. 26, 2021 – The Brookhaven City Council acted on several items in its Oct. 26 business meeting, held via video conference, with public input offered through email and by online comments on Zoom.  The action items are as follows:

  • The Mayor and Council held a public hearing and subsequently approved a Special Land Use Permit to allow construction of a wireless support structure at 3809 Buford Highway.
  • The Mayor and Council approved the appointment of Honorable Dax Lopez as Alcohol Hearing Officer.
  • The Mayor and Council unanimously approved a consent agenda which included:
    • The minutes of the Oct. 12 virtual Work Session and Regular Meeting.
    • Acceptance of the 2021 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant.
    • Approval of the holiday schedule and normal business hours for City operations and City employees for 2022.
  • The Mayor and Council received a presentation and distribution of the Proposed FY 2022 Budget to Mayor and Council by City Manager Christian Sigman
  • The Council unanimously approved an ordinance extending the Declaration of a State of Emergency arising because of COVID-19; taking immediate emergency measures; establishing an effective date through November 30, 2021 and for other purposes.
  • The Council unanimously approved an ordinance to amend the General Fund Budget to increase Federal Grant Revenue in the amount of $20,269 from the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program for the funding of spectral analysis equipment for narcotics and suspicious compound identification.
  • The Council unanimously approved an ordinance to impose license fees on insurers conducting business within the City of Brookhaven, in the amount of $150.
     
  • The Council unanimously approved a single source contract with GeoHydro Engineers for the geotech, soils, and construction material testing for the Lynwood Park Splashpad Project in the amount of $82,558.
  • The Council unanimously approved authorization for the Mayor to enter into an acceptable agreement with Integrated Construction and Nobility for the construction of the Lynwood Park splash pad, pool, pool house parking lots, landscaping and site work in the amount of $8,610,352.
  • The Council unanimously approved authorization for the Mayor to enter into an acceptable agreement with Advanced Sports Group in the amount of $564,782 for the installation of multi-use synthetic turf field at Lynwood Park.
  • The Council unanimously approved a contract for the structure demolition of six properties on South Bamby Lane/ Dresden Drive Remediation Project.
  • The Council unanimously approved an amendment to the City Manager Employment Agreement.
