City Council wrap-up of the Oct. 13 virtual meeting

Brookhaven, GA, Oct. 13, 2020 – The Brookhaven City Council acted on several items in its Oct. 13 business meeting, held via video conference, with public input offered through email and by online comments on Zoom.  The action items are as follows:

  • The Mayor and Council unanimously approved Celena Matlock to the Advisory Audit Committee.
     
  • The Mayor and Council received a presentation of the FY 2021 Proposed Budget.
  • The Council unanimously approved a consent agenda which included:
    • The minutes of the Sept. 22 virtual Work Session and Regular Meetings.
    • Surplus vehicles.
    • Replacement of Panasonic Toughbooks for Public Safety Vehicles in the amount of $187,167 in CARES Act funds.
    • Replacement of Dell Laptops for remote workers in the amount of $51,990 in CARES Act funds.
    • Emergency Operations Displays for the new Public Safety Building in the amount of $331,953 in CARES Act funds.
  • The Council unanimously approved the 2020 Comprehensive Transportation Plan Update.
     
  • The Council unanimously approved an ordinance in recognition of the historical community of Lynwood Park, to erect signage and markers, and for other purposes.
  • The Council unanimously approved an ordinance to amend Chapter 14, Land Development and Subdivisions, Article VIII, Floodplain Management, related to FEMA FIRM data sets, definition updates, and requirements for development within the future-conditions floodplain in order to establish the City’s Community Rating System (CRS) program.
  • The Council unanimously approved an ordinance to amend Chapter 22, Solid Waste to update to the ordinances related to construction debris and waste and requirements for construction site operators.
     
  • The Council unanimously approved an ordinance to amend the 2020 Budget, decreasing expenditures in the General Fund Non-Departmental Department by $145,000, and increasing expenditures by $145,000 in the Economic Development Department to account for economic development studies and marketing initiatives.
  • The Council unanimously approved a request for Right-Of-Way Abandonment at Duncan Drive at Georgian Terrace.
     
  • The Council unanimously adopted of the HUD Citizen Participation Plan (public hearing held on Sept. 22).
  • The Council unanimously approved an ordinance to enact Sections of Chapter 17, Motor Vehicles and Traffic, to be called the "Brookhaven Vulnerable Road User" Ordinance, to provide for definitions and penalties, to set an effective date, and other purposes.
