City Council wrap-up of the Nov. 10 virtual meeting

Brookhaven, GA, Nov. 10, 2020 – The Brookhaven City Council acted on several items in its Nov. 10 business meeting, held via video conference, with public input offered through email and by online comments on Zoom.  The action items are as follows:

  • The Mayor and Council conducted the second public hearing of the FY 2021 Budget.  After the public hearing, the Council unanimously approved the FY 2021 Budget.
  • The Mayor nominated and the Council approved five more members to the newly created Social Justice, Race and Equity Commission, bringing the total number on the committee to 36.
  • The Council unanimously approved a consent agenda which included:
    • The minutes of the Oct. 27 virtual Work Session and Regular Meetings.
    • A contract with DAF Concrete for construction of a multiuse path along Briarwood Road in the amount of $158,260.
    • A contract with Inland Pipe Rehabilitation - Southeast for stormwater infrastructure repairs in LaVista Park at Brook Forest Road in the amount of $88,000.
    • A contract with Response Environmental Site Services for stormwater infrastructure repairs on Brook Valley Lane in the amount of $52,390.
    • A contract with Optech Inc. for public works maintenance in the amount of $125,000.
    • A contract with Corbett Group for stormwater infrastructure repairs on Merriman Lane in the amount of $109,234.
  • The Council unanimously approved an ordinance to adopt the City of Brookhaven ADA Transition Plan.
  • The Council unanimously approved to enact Section 18-79 of the Code of Ordinances to make text changes and provide for penalties as it pertains to street racing and other purposes.
     
  • The Council unanimously reaffirmed the North Boardwalk and South Trail Projects as part of the Murphey Candler Park Master Plan.
  • The Council unanimously approved the Future Sidewalk Network Map/List.
  • The Council unanimously approved up to $300,000 for the administration of a license reimbursement program by the Brookhaven Chamber of Commerce for certain business adversely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
