City Council wrap-up for the May 25 virtual meeting

Brookhaven, GA, May 25, 2021 – The Brookhaven City Council acted on several items in its May 25 business meeting, held via video conference, with public input offered through email and by online comments on Zoom.  The action items are as follows:

  • The Mayor and Council unanimously approved a consent agenda which included:
    • The minutes of the May 4 virtual Work Session and Regular Meeting.
    • A task order from Lose & Associates for the engineering, design, permitting, bidding and construction management of the Murphey Candler Park II Trail Project in the amount of $58,000.
    • A facility use agreement between the YMCA of Metro Atlanta and the City of Brookhaven for use of the large pavilion and open space field at Blackburn Park for summer camp activities.
  • The Mayor and Council unanimously approved Supplemental Agreement #2, Change Order #9 and Change Order #10 requested by Clark, Patterson, Lee (CPL) for additional professional services required for the design of the parks associated with the Park Bond Program.
  • The Mayor and Council unanimously approved an authorization for an agreement with Excellere Construction LLC for the design/build for the Murphey Candler Park North Boardwalk in the amount of $860,000.
     
  • The Mayor and Council unanimously approved an ordinance to amend the 2021 General Fund and Capital Improvement Programs (CIP) Fund Budgets, appropriating $200,000 from the General Fund Unassigned Fund Balance to the CIP Fund Professional Services Expenditure Account for costs associated with the engineering and design of the P2020.340 Langford Park Project.
     
  • The Council unanimously approved an ordinance to amend the 2021 Street Lighting Fund Budget, appropriating $21,406 from the Street Lighting Reserve Balance for the Dresden Drive Street Lights LED conversion.
  • The Council unanimously approved an ordinance to amend the 2021 General Fund and Stormwater Fund Budgets, authorizing a loan of $575,000 from the General Fund Unassigned Fund Balance to the Stormwater Fund for emergency drainage and sinkhole repairs at W. Nancy Creek Drive.
     
  • The Council unanimously approved a purchase order to Response Environmental Site Services, Inc. (RESS) for $575,000 for emergency drainage and sinkhole repairs at 1167 and 1177 W. Nancy Creek Dr.
  • The Mayor and Council unanimously approved a resolution to accept Coronavirus Fiscal Recovery Funding from the United States Department of the Treasury.
