City Council wrap up of the March 10 meeting

Brookhaven, GA, Mar. 10, 2020 – The Brookhaven City Council acted on several items in its March 10 regular business meeting at Brookhaven City Hall:

  • The Mayor and City approved the presentation of commendation certificates to Brookhaven Police Sergeants Patrick Bolls, Delroy Stewart; and Officers Ellen Akins, Travis Nguyen, and Andrea Serrano.
  • The Council unanimously approved an agreement with the American Red Cross for the use of the Briarwood Park Recreation Center during emergencies and disaster-related activities.
  • The Council unanimously approved an amendment to the 2019 Budget for each fund of appropriating the amounts shown in each budget as expenditures, adopting the item of anticipated funding sources.  These are reflected as several interfund transfers between departments.
  • The Council unanimously approved an amendment to the 2020 CIP Fund Budget an amount not to exceed $200,000 from the CIP Fund Contributions from Private Sources to the CIP Fund Expenditures for the completion of the Northeast Expressway Multi-Use Path Project.
  • The Council unanimously approved an amendment to the 2020 CIP Fund Budget, appropriating an amount not to exceed $333,122 from the SPLOST Fund Reserves Balance to the CIP Fund Expenditures for the completion of street paving.
  • The Council unanimously approved a contract with Atlanta Paving and Concrete in the amount of $2,454,471 for 2020 street paving.
  • The Council unanimously approved an ordinance to create the Lavista Park Special District Fund Budget for 2020, appropriating an initial amount of $300,000 for expenditures needed for infrastructure according to the City of Brookhaven Annexation Policy, recognizing ad valorem revenue in the amount of $300,000, and allowing for the General Fund to provide an advance to the Lavista Park Special District Fund until 2020 tax revenues are received.
  • The Council unanimously approved a resolution to reaffirm the Ashford Park Master Plan.
  • The Council unanimously approved a resolution to amend the City of Brookhaven purchasing policy.
  • The Council unanimously approved an emergency contract with Response Environmental Site Services in the amount of $170,165 for the Inman Drive/Saybrook Drive Drainage Improvements.
  • The Council unanimously approved a contract with DAF Concrete, Inc., for an amount not to exceed $766,660.00 for the Ashford Dunwoody Road/Montgomery Elementary intersection improvements.
