City Council wrap-up of the June 9 virtual meeting

Brookhaven, GA, June 10, 2020 – The Brookhaven City Council acted on several items in its June 9 business meeting, held via video conference, with public input offered through email and by online comments on Zoom.  The action items are as follows:

  • The Mayor and Council received presentations regarding 1) the student-led demonstration march given by Christiana Mitchell at Oglethorpe University; 2) the Brookhaven Police Department Transparency Project; 3) the 2020 Tree Canopy Study Update; and 4) department reports, including an operations report from the City Manager.
  • The Mayor and Council held a public hearing on the 2020 millage rate.  There was no vote on this item at this meeting.  There will be additional public hearings on June 23 at 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. before the item is considered by City Council.
  • The Mayor and Council unanimously approved the consent agenda to approve minutes of the May 26 virtual meeting and to approve a resolution allowing the mayor to sign an easement agreement with Georgia Power for work associated with the Briarwood Park Bond Pool Project.
  • The Council unanimously approved an ordinance to make administrative changes to the current stormwater service fee rates.
