City Council wrap-up for the July 27 virtual meeting

Brookhaven, GA, July 28, 2021 – The Brookhaven City Council acted on several items in its July 27 business meeting, held via video conference, with public input offered through email and by online comments on Zoom.  The action items are as follows:

  • The Mayor and Council unanimously approved a consent agenda which included:
    • The minutes of the June 29 virtual Work Session and Regular Meeting.
    • Consideration and approval of assignment of claims. 
    • A memorandum of understanding between the City of Brookhaven and the Brookhaven and the Brookhaven Development Authority for the guaranty of certain fees and expenses in the event the economic incentives for the Manor at Druid Hills Project fails to close for any reason.
    • A resolution accepting Local Maintenance & Improvement Grant Safety Action Program Funding from the Georgia Department of Transportation.
    • Mutual general releases and settlement agreements between the City of Brookhaven, Jeffrey Long, and Lose & Associates
    • Consideration and Approval of Resolution Establishing the City of Brookhaven Flag Policy.
    • Surplus items.
  • The Council unanimously approved an ordinance to amend Chapter 14, Land Development and Subdivisions, Article III, Tree Preservation and Maintenance.
  • The Council unanimously approved an ordinance to amend Chapter 14, Land Development and Subdivisions, as it pertains to artificial turf.
  • The Council unanimously approved an ordinance to amend the authorized position list for the City of Brookhaven.
  • The Council unanimously approved an ordinance to establish a new project and amend the 2021 Grant, SPLOST, and CIP Fund Budgets, appropriating an amount not to exceed $111,435 from the SPLOST Fund Reserves and amount of $150,000 from the Grant Fund State Grant Revenues to the CIP Fund Infrastructure Expenditures Account for the completion of the FY 2021 LMIG Safety Action Plan (SAP) Program.
  • The Council unanimously approved an ordinance extending the Declaration of a State of Emergency Arising Because of COVID-19 and taking immediate emergency measures until August 25, 2021.
