City Council wrap up: Highlights from the Sept. 12 meeting

Brookhaven, GA, Sept. 14, 2018 – The Brookhaven City Council acted on several items in its Sept. 12 meeting at Brookhaven City Hall: 

  • The Administration announced its FY 2019 budget schedule.  The 2019 proposed budget will be presented Oct. 9 at 7 p.m., and public hearings will be conducted Oct. 23 and Nov. 13, both at 7 p.m.
     
  • The Council unanimously approved a recommendation not to abandon the public right-of-way on Bramblewood Drive. 
     
  • The Council unanimously accepted a request for withdrawal of an application for rezoning 32 parcels on Buford Highway and Bramblewood Drive from R-75 to O-I and RM-75 for a proposed development of 226 townhomes by Ardent Development.
     
  • The Council unanimously voted to adopt and protect its current logo and other branding symbology.
     
  • The Council unanimously approved the purchase and installation of the new, all-inclusive Murphey Candler Park Playground through the U.S. Communities Purchasing Alliance in the amount of $210,000.
     
  • The Council approved a supplemental resolution approving the final terms of the Brookhaven Public Facilities Authority Revenue Bonds in the amount of $12.6 million for construction of Brookhaven’s portion of Phase 1 of the Peachtree Creek Greenway.
     
  • The Council unanimously approved a purchase order for DAF Concrete in the amount of $102,792 to complete the Tryon Road sidewalk.  The funds will be paid from the performance bond from the previous contractor.
     
  • The Council unanimously approved a contract for $65,175 with Site Engineering to repair a stormwater culvert on Hart’s Mill Road.
