City Council wrap up: Highlights from the Jan. 22 meeting

Brookhaven, GA, Jan. 22, 2019 – The Brookhaven City Council acted on several items in its Jan. 22 meeting at Brookhaven City Hall: 

·       The Council unanimously approved a commendation for Brookhaven Police Officer Charles McCoy.

·       A rezoning request for a daycare facility in the 3700 block of Clairmont Road was withdrawn.

·       The Mayor recommended, and the Council unanimously approved, five members of the new Parks Bond Oversight Committee.

·       The Council unanimously approved two contracts to Goodwyn Mills Cawood/Ecological Planning Group for the first year of a five-year storm water system inventory and assessment in the amount of $208,739.

·       The Council unanimously approved a master service agreement for film production permit application processing through the DeKalb Entertainment Commission.

·       The Council unanimously approved an ordinance to make several technical changes to the City of Brookhaven Charter. 

·       The Council approved an ordinance extending operating hours for alcohol beverage sales for Super Bowl LIII.

·       The Council unanimously approved an ordinance that establishes the official 2019 list of authorized positions and salary ranges and authorizes the City Manager any changes necessary ensure the Police Department’s pay structure is competitive with other jurisdictions in the region.

·       The Council unanimously approved the qualifying dates and fees for municipal elections for mayor and council districts 1 and 3.

·       The Council unanimously approved a resolution issuing $40 million in bond funding for Parks projects approved by voters in the Nov. 6, 2018 general election.

·       The Council unanimously approved a contract to Shepco Paving for the 2019 street resurfacing and reconstruction program in the amount of $2,420,185.
