City Council wrap up: Highlights from the Feb. 12 meeting

Brookhaven, GA, Feb. 12, 2019 – The Brookhaven City Council acted on several items in its Feb. 12 meeting at Brookhaven City Hall: 

  • The Council unanimously approved a task order with Infrastructure Management Services for $76,197 to complete a paving assessment later this year. The Public Works Department has completed paving of roads listed in the 2016 assessment during paving in 2017, 2018, and 2019, and the City Council recently approved the paving of roads listed for 2020 paving. Once the new assessment is complete, a report with a new five-year pavement recommendation will be conducted.

  • The Council unanimously approved a contract in the amount of $179,261.98 with AGM Contracting for renovation of a building at 3292 Buford Highway (former QT station) for use by DeKalb County to house ambulances. The City purchased the property in 2018 and entered into an intergovernmental agreement with DeKalb.

  • The Council unanimously approved an ordinance to amend the land development and sign codes to allow the City Council to hear concurrent variances in accordance with the Zoning Ordinance Update. The Council also approved ordinances for minor amendments to the nuisance and motor vehicles codes.

  • The Council agreed to execute a Letter of Intent with Railroad Outdoor for the purchase of the billboard located near the intersection of Buford Highway and North Druid Hills Road.
