City Council wrap up: Highlights from the August 27 meeting

Brookhaven, GA, Aug. 27, 2019 – The Brookhaven City Council acted on several items in its Aug. 27 work session and regular business meeting at Brookhaven City Hall:

  • The Council appointed Tim Scarborough to the Brookhaven Arts Advisory Committee and named Elizabeth Peterson chair of the committee. 
  • The Council unanimously approved the abandonment of 0.11 acres of right of way at Caldwell Road at Sunland Drive.
  • The Council unanimously approved to amend the 2019 Budget to allocate $90,000 for a professional services contract for the development of the Brookhaven Arts and Culture Master Plan.
  • The Council unanimously approved an amendment to the budget in the amount of $97,992 and approve a contract with Steele & Associates for construction of the Briarwood Park Nature Trails.
  • The Council unanimously approved a contract in the amount of $422,207 with Lefko Construction for the renovation and construction of Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliant restrooms at Lynwood Park Recreation Center.  In May, DeKalb County committed $105,000 in Community Development Block Grant funds toward this project.
  • The Council unanimously approved text changes to the ordinance regarding dockless mobility devices .
