City Council wrap up: Highlights from the August 13 meeting

Brookhaven, GA, Aug. 13, 2019 – The Brookhaven City Council acted on several items in its Aug. 13 work session and regular business meeting at Brookhaven City Hall:

  • During the work session, the Council heard presentations of Suwanee’s public arts program, an update on the Peachtree Creek Greenway, and an update on the dockless mobility ordinance.
  • The Council held a recognition ceremony for recent promotions within the Police Department.  
  • The Council unanimously approved a settlement agreement with AY Consulting in the amount of $235,000.
  • The Council unanimously approved a contract in the amount of $51,252 with Piedmont Geotechnical for testing services for the new public safety building during construction.
  • The Council unanimously approved the renewal of the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety Pedestrian Grant.
     
  • The Council unanimously approved a contract in the amount of $248,000 with DRL Group for architectural services for the public safety building.
  • The Council unanimously approved a resolution authorizing the installation of no left turn signs on Clairmont Road.
  • The Council unanimously approved updates to the ordinance to issue permits for small cell facilities in the City’s rights of way.
     
  • The Council approved an intergovernmental agreement between the City and the Brookhaven Convention and Visitors Bureau for short term rental administration.
