City Council wrap up of the Feb. 11 meeting

Brookhaven, GA, Feb. 11, 2020 – The Brookhaven City Council acted on several items in its Feb. 11 regular business meeting at Brookhaven City Hall:

  • The Mayor and City Council recognized Scout Troops 370 and 372 from St. James Episcopal Church.
  • The Council held a public hearing and unanimously approved a rezoning at 1221 Kendrick Road from RS-100 to RS-50 to allow for a 2-lot subdivision.
  • The Council unanimously authorized the appointment of Kevin Fitzpatrick as the City’s Nondiscrimination Ordinance Hearing Officer.
  • The Council unanimously authorized the appointment Phyllis Mitchell to the Board of Appeals.
  • The Council unanimously approved a contract with Dentons LLP in the amount of $10,000 per month to provide governmental and public affairs assistance to the City of Brookhaven in advancing transportation and transit improvement initiatives.
  • The Council unanimously approved a contract with RedSpeed for automated speed enforcement in school zones with automated speed detection cameras.
  • The Council unanimously approved an appropriation of $650,000 from the General Fund and authorizing the Mayor to execute an Intergovernmental Agreement (IGA) to fund a loan between the Brookhaven Development Authority and the City for the purchase of real estate located 2068 North Druid Hills Road.
  • The Council unanimously approved the removal of the Cherokee Plaza / Peachtree Road traffic signal installation project from the Capital Improvement Plan.
  • The Council unanimously approved an IGA for the purchase and development of park greenspace located at 1174 Pine Grove for Langford Memorial Park between DeKalb County and the City of Brookhaven.  The purchase of this property was approved by Council on Nov. 12, 2019.
