City Council wrap-up for the Dec. 14 meeting

Brookhaven, GA, Dec. 14, 2021 – The Brookhaven City Council acted on several items in its Dec. 14 meeting: 

  • The Social, Justice, Race and Equity Commission presented its final report and recommendations, which the Council will consider for adoption in 2022.
  • The Mayor and City Council unanimously approved the appointment of Sherean Malekzadeh to the Planning Commission.
  • The Mayor and Council unanimously approved a consent agenda which included:
    • The minutes of the Nov. 30 virtual Work Session and Regular Meeting.
    • The Art & Cultural Commission 2022 process and meeting Calendar.
    • The Board of Appeals 2022 process and meeting calendar.
    • 2022 Land Use process and meeting calendar.
    • A resolution approving the annual adoption of the Future Sidewalk List.
  • The Council unanimously approved an ordinance to amend Section 21-62, Prohibited Signs related to inflatable holiday decorations.
  • The Council unanimously approved an ordinance to amend the 2021 Capital Improvement Program (CIP) Fund and Stormwater Fund budgets, closing of Capital Improvement Program Fund projects, approving of transfers of residual appropriations to original funding source, and technical changes as necessary.
  • The Council unanimously approved an ordinance to amend the 2021 General and CIP Fund Budgets, appropriating $50,000 from the General Fund Sidewalk Bank assigned Fund Balance to the CIP Fund infrastructure expenditure, account for additional cost associated with the Sidewalk Capital Maintenance & ADA Compliance Project.
  • The Council unanimously approved an ordinance to create the City of Brookhaven Special Service District, providing for definitions, establishing an effective date, and for other purposes; with a friendly amendment to exclude multi-family housing.
  • The Council unanimously approved an ordinance for the 2021 Fiscal Year, appropriating the amounts shown in each budget as expenditures, adopting the item of anticipated funding sources, and technical changes.
  • The Council unanimously approved an ordinance to amend the 2021 Budget for the SPLOST Fund, appropriating the amounts shown in each budget as expenditures, adopting the item of anticipated funding sources, reallocation of the SPLOST funding categories; and changes as necessary.
  • The Council unanimously approved an ordinance to amend Chapter 14, Land Development and Subdivisions.
  • The Council unanimously approved a resolution to amend the Annexation Policy (RES2019-09-05) for the financing of infrastructure deficiencies, capital improvements, and the transition of services for areas seeking annexation into the City of Brookhaven.
  • The Council unanimously approved a supplemental agreement between Brookhaven and Lose & Associates Permitting Services, bidding services, construction related services and reimbursable expenses for Brookhaven Park improvements option “B” construction in the amount of $179,000.
  • The Council unanimously approved a ratification of the Emergency Condition Declaration at Windsor Parkway and authorize total funding in the amount of $48,104 to RESS.
  • Resolutions were read from the Brookhaven Mayor and City Council, and the Georgia State Senate, recognizing Mayor Pro Tem and District 4 City Councilman Joe Gebbia, a founder of the City of Brookhaven who is retiring from City Council.
