City Council wrap-up of the April 28 virtual meeting

Brookhaven, GA, April 29, 2020 – The Brookhaven City Council acted on several items in its April 28 business meeting, held via video conference, with public input offered through email and by online comments on Facebook Live.  The action items are as follows:

·         The Mayor and Council held a public hearing and subsequently approved an ordinance to amend Sections 27-1025 and 1047 of the Planning Commission Public Hearings and Recommendations.  This would allow the applicant, with staff approval, to request an initial deferral if they are not prepared to present; without negating the Commission’s ability to defer action for the one 60-day period provided by code, thereby ensuring a useful recommendation from the Commission.

·         The Mayor and Council received department operation reports, including a presentation of the Buford Highway Transit Report and recommendations.

·         The Council unanimously approved a resolution aligning term expiration dates and affirming appointments of the Brookhaven Convention and Visitors Bureau (BCVB) Trustees.

·         The Council unanimously approved the consent agenda to approve minutes of the April 14 virtual meeting and rescinding an appointment to the BCVB that was approved at the April 14 meeting. The consent agenda also ratified the Mayor’s Executive Order Number 2020-04-02; which extends the State of Emergency within the City of Brookhaven; authorizes the enforcement of this ordinance; and temporarily allows signage in rights of way.

·         The Council unanimously approved a resolution amending the City of Brookhaven Paid Time Off (PTO) Policy.

·         The Council unanimously approved a change order with DAF Concrete for the Ashford Dunwoody / Johnson Ferry Road contract in the amount of $75,465.

·         The Council unanimously approved an amendment to the Lewallen contract for the Peachtree Creek Greenway (PCG) Phase 1 Construction Services to include construction of Phase 1B Pocket Park Amenities V in the amount of $507,512.

·         The Council unanimously approved a supplemental agreement requested by Clark, Patterson, Lee for bidding assistance and construction administration required for construction of the Park Bond program in the amount of $182,500.
