City Council wrap-up of the April 14 virtual meeting

Brookhaven, GA, April 14, 2020 – The Brookhaven City Council acted on several items in its April 14 business meeting, held via video conference, with public input offered through email and by online comments on Facebook Live.  The action items are as follows:

  • The Mayor and Council received an operational report from City Manager Christian Sigman.
  • The Council unanimously approved the appointment of Jim Feeney to the Brookhaven Convention and Visitors Bureau.
  • The Council unanimously approved the consent agenda to approve minutes of the March 24 regular meeting, and Park Bond security upgrades for Lynwood Park Building by GC&E in the amount of $72,843.
  • The Council unanimously approved a resolution pertaining to the CDBG Cooperative Agreement with DeKalb County regarding public services.
  • The Council unanimously approved an ordinance approving and ratifying the Mayor’s Executive Orders Numbers 2020-03-01 and 2020-04-01; extending the State of Emergency within the City of Brookhaven through April 30; and for other purposes. 
  • The Council unanimously approved an ordinance to amend Chapter 4, Alcoholic Beverages, to allow employees between the ages of 16 and 18 to work in licensed businesses, and for other purposes.
  • The Council unanimously approved a resolution to commit unassigned fund balance in the General Fund for the 2019 fiscal year.
  • The Council unanimously approved amending the 2020 General Fund Budget, appropriating $1,100,000 from the General Fund Committed Fund Balance and $400,000 from the General Fund Intergovernmental Revenue Account for the purchase of land at 1174 Pine Grove.  The Council subsequently approved the purchase of property at 1174 Pine Grove.
  • The Council unanimously approved a resolution re-affirming the Blackburn Park Master Plan.
  • The Council unanimously approved a contract award to Lovvorn Construction, Inc. for the Blackburn Park Parking Lot Improvement Project in the amount of $879,000.
  • The Council unanimously approved a contract for the 3451/3461 Sunderland Circle drainage system repair by Summit Construction in the amount of $106,200.
