City Council wrap-up for the April 13 virtual meeting

Brookhaven, GA, April 13, 2021 – The Brookhaven City Council acted on several items in its March 30 business meeting, held via video conference, with public input offered through email and by online comments on Zoom.  The action items are as follows:

  • The Mayor and Council heard a presentation and held a public hearing for the Brookhaven 2021-25 Draft CDBG Consolidated Plan and 2021 Action Plan.
  • The Mayor and Council held a public hearing and subsequently approved a rezoning application from RS-100 to RS-50 at 1230 Kendrick Road to allow for a 2-lot subdivision.
     
  • The Mayor and Council unanimously approved a consent agenda which included:
    • The minutes of the March 30 virtual Work Session and Regular Meetings.
       
  • The Council unanimously approved an amendment to Section 12-64, the Emergency Responders Radio Coverage (ERRC) Ordinance.
  • The Council unanimously approved an ordinance to establish a new project and amend the 2021 General Fund and LaVista Park Special Tax District Fund Budget and appropriating a loan of $1,215,123 from the General Fund Unassigned Fund Balance to the LaVista Park Special Tax District Fund for the 2021 LaVista Park Capital Paving Project.
  • The Council unanimously approved an award of the 2021 Capital Street Paving Contract in the amount of $3,564,897 to Allied Paving Contractors, Inc. for resurfacing and reconstruction of 24 streets.
     
  • The Council unanimously approved an ordinance to establish a new project and amend the 2021 General Fund and CIP Fund Budget and appropriating $99,985 from the General Fund Unassigned Fund Balance to the CIP Fund for an intersection analysis study at Dresden Drive.
  • The Council unanimously approved an agreement with Gresham Smith for Dresden Dr Safety and Operational Improvements.
  • The Council unanimously approved an ordinance extending the State of Emergency due to COVID-19 to May 15, 2021
  • The Council unanimously approved an ordinance to amend the 2021 General Fund Budget and appropriating $325,000 from the General Fund Unassigned Fund Balance for a Brookhaven Recovery Festival.
  • The Council unanimously approved an ordinance to amend the 2021 General Fund Budget and appropriating $208,000 from the General Fund Building Structures Permit Fees to the Contract Labor Expenditure Account in the Community Development Department for additional inspections coverage, and subsequently approved a contract amendment to Charles Abbott Associates, Inc. for those services.
  • The Council unanimously approved a resolution establishing goals and criteria for council district redistricting in advance of the release of the official 2020 Census data.
  • The Council unanimously approved a resolution to reset the first regular meeting of May 2021 - to be May 4, 2021
