City Council virtual meeting on June 15

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Brookhaven, GA, June 14, 2021 – The Brookhaven City Council will conduct its next regularly scheduled business meeting Tuesday, June 15, at 7 p.m. In consideration of social distancing recommendations by the World Health Organization, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and State Board of Health, the meeting will be held via video conference.

In order to ensure transparency and accountability, the public will be able to weigh in during Public Hearings and Public Comment by any of the following options:

The June 15 business meeting contains the following for City Council consideration:

  • A presentation and public hearing of the 2021 millage rate.
  • A resolution appointing Nichols, Cauley & Associates, LLC as Internal Auditor.
  • A resolution appointing Artimus Hart Jr.  to the Brookhaven Convention and Visitors Bureau.
  • A public comment availability.
  • A consent agenda which includes:
    • The minutes of the May 25 virtual Work Session and Regular Meeting.
    • A resolution appointing the DeKalb County Board of Registration and Elections to conduct the Nov. 2, 2021 election and run-off (if needed).  
  • A presentation of the 2020 Comprehensive Annual Financial Report by Finance Director Alek Dimov
  • An ordinance extending the Declaration of a State of Emergency arising because of COVID-19; taking emergency measures; and for other purposes.
  • An ordinance to amend Chapter 14, Land Development & Subdivisions, Section 14-677, Sidewalks and Bicycle Lanes of the Code of the City of Brookhaven.
  • A resolution adopting conduct and decorum guidelines for elected and appointed officials.
  • A resolution awarding a contract for public works services to Lowe Engineers LLC in the amount of $4.8 million.
  • A resolution to amend the Comprehensive Transportation Plan to modify Project No. C-3, Dresden Drive to remove the reference to the extension of Ellijay Road to Caldwell Road.
  • A resolution to increase the base annual Stormwater Service Fee from $66 to $73.98.
  • A task order from Lose & Associates for the engineering, design, permitting, bidding and construction management of the Langford Project in the amount of $130,000.
  • A contract for the Internal Auditor.
  • Consideration and approval of a contract award to Vanasse Hangen Brustlin Inc (VHB) to provide professional services for preparation of the Windsor-Osborne Special Area Plan in the amount of $58,125.
