City closes temporary maintenance yard at Osborne Park, relocates to Briarwood Road site

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Brookhaven, GA, Oct. 25, 2018 – With the opening of a new municipal maintenance yard along Briarwood Road, the City of Brookhaven has now closed its temporary facility at Osborne Park.

In July, the Brookhaven City Council unanimously approved a contract in the amount of $113,690 with Pro Building System to establish a permanent municipal maintenance yard at the new location at 1793 Briarwood Road.  The move eliminates the need to store equipment and operate from the Osborne Park site.

“I am pleased to say that the City acted in response to complaints and concerns from the community and identified, purchased and prepared a new site location as quickly as feasible,” said District 1 Councilmember Linley Jones. “I want to thank the residents in the Lynwood community for their patience as the City has worked through its equipment-storage issue. We promised to ensure that Osborne Park was a temporary arrangement, and we have made good on this promise.”

Items stored at the maintenance yard include salt and sand mix, salt-spreaders for snow and ice events, equipment storage containers, and storm drain culverts.  All city-owned equipment and supplies have already been relocated to the new facility, and the third-party owners of the few remaining items have been notified to pick up their property.
