Post Date:03/13/2017 2:20 PM

Brookhaven, GA --- When you head out the door for the Brookhaven Cherry Blossom Festival you don’t have to leave your beloved bulldog at home. Bring your dog on a leash and come enjoy lots of pet-friendly fun including: a Pet Parade, Pet Costume Contest, Dog Stunt Shows, Lure Chasing, Pet Photo Booth and a variety of fabulous Pet Vendors. The 3rd Annual Brookhaven Cherry Blossom Festival will be held in beautiful Blackburn Park on Saturday, March 25 and Sunday, March 26 from 10 am to 6 pm each day. Admission is FREE.

Here are some highlights you can share with your Shih Tzu:

Our popular Pet Parade will take place on Sunday, March 26 at 2 pm. Starting from Pet World, you and your Pomeranian can strut your stuff around the park.

The Pet Costume Contest begins immediately following the Pet Parade on Sunday, March 26 at approximately 2:45 pm in Pet World. This event is free, but requires registration. Here’s the link to register: PetWorld.BrookCherryFest.org. To help you plan your pet’s winning outfit, here are the costume categories:

  • Artsy Bark (step outside the box and be creative)
  • Cherry Blossom Awesome (show off your finest fashions in pink)
  • Doggie Diva (sophisticated, stylish, bring on the bling)
  • Super Hero Swag (need we say more?)
  • #SquadGoals (Pet+Pet or Pet+Human Combos)
  • Best in Show (lead the pack in bragging rights)

Enjoy Dog Stunt Shows throughout the weekend by Gail Mirabella & The Dynamo Dogs. These amazing, high-energy exhibitions showcase the dogs’ agility and mastery of disc dog skills. Gail’s unique presentation brings out the dogs’ best, thanks to the genuine bond they share. For the past 15 years, Gail has been active in canine sports training and entertainment. Along with her talented dogs, she’s been featured as part of the Purina Incredible Dog Team, K-9’s in Flight, and Animal Planet’s Expos.

Angels Among Us Pet Rescue will be on site all weekend If you are interested in adding a new pet to your household. To date they have rescued more than 9,000 dogs and cats. They operate through a network of foster homes, and rescued animals are available for adoption.

Does your high-energy fur baby like to run? They will love Bad Ferret Lure Chasing! This popular non-competitive sport for dogs involves chasing a mechanically operated lure in a closed course. It provides fun and great exercise. There is a charge of $10 for the first run and $5 for the second run.  All funds at the festival will be donated to Angels Among Us Pet Rescue.

Come meet celebrity spokesdog and mascot Hayley Blackmon! This beautiful, feisty Scottie is a spokesdog for the National Canine Cancer Foundation and the official mascot for Warm Springs, GA – home of FDR and Fala.
