Osborne Road drainage improvement project near completion despite setbacks
Brookhaven, GA, August 8, 2017 – The City of Brookhaven is wrapping up its first major drainage improvement project on Osborne Road slightly behind schedule due to weather and other unforeseen circumstances.
“We appreciate the patience and understanding from all of the residents in this area as we finish off these improvements and improve the drainage conditions in the area,” said Brookhaven Public Works Director Hari Karikaran.
Work began on June 12, to install 1,220 linear feet of 30” and 24” reinforced concrete pipe, 1,200 linear feet of curbs and gutter; several inlets, and associated paving. The anticipated completion date for road paving on both sides of Osborne Road was August 11, but that has been pushed back to August 15.
A total of 18 working days were fully or partially affected by weather. In addition, eight days were lost due to complications from a private sewer lateral and an unmarked gas main.
Work in process to improve drainage conditions under Osborne Road
While repairs and paving are completed, northbound traffic on Osborne Road from Peachtree Road is routed to Hermance Drive to Windsor Parkway during active construction, generally between 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Southbound lanes will remain open. It is recommended that motorists avoid Osborne Road if possible and seek alternate routes.
