DeKalb County Fire Department completes successful dive training at Murphey Candler Lake
Brookhaven, GA, June 22, 2017 – This past Wednesday, June 21, Brookhaven’s Murphey Candler lake recently hosted DeKalb County’s Fire Rescue monthly dive training exercises for its search and rescue divers.
The training occurs on a monthly basis and is intended to emphasize safe diving techniques as well as search and rescue procedures unique to an aquatic environment. Team diving skills and redundant safety systems are also important competencies that are honed.
“The dive training that occurred Wednesday at Murphey Candler Lake was a great success and DeKalb County Fire Rescue made the most out of the opportunities our lake provided,” said Emergency Management Coordinator Paul White.
Captain Eric Jackson of DeKalb County Fire Rescue said, “It was great to partner with the City of Brookhaven, undertaking thorough exercises that simulate real world conditions are an invaluable component of our emergency preparedness training and our crews are better prepared with this experience.”
